Hearts of the UNDERWORLD!

Under World, what a place!? It is Grenth’s death realm where the souls of the dead spend eternity resting in peace…except Dhuum and his minions are turning eternal rest into hell! Ascendants with /favor of the gods can find the Voice of Grenth in Temple of Ages (TOA. Also, Chantry of Secrets & Zin Ku Corridor) & in exchange for an offering can transport your team into the UW.

Dhuum is the cruel and unjust god who once ruled the Underworld as the god of death. During his reign, his tower and throne were situated in the region now known as the Chaos Planes. Dhuum tolerated neither resurrections nor the existence of the undead, and he hunted down all those who cheated death, having promised “death undeniable.” Eventually, Grenth overthrew Dhuum and took the mantle as the new god of death. Grenth, however, could not slay Dhuum, and so imprisoned him instead within the Hall of Judgment, behind enchanted doors and layers of divine magic.

Help Gwen’s parents! These demons need to be vanquished from this area to ensure a peaceful eternal rest! Otherwise there will be no sipping on phantasmal tea and snacking on ectoplasm pudding on the ghostly porch of your little house in the Forgotten Vale in hopes that Gwen’s mom walks by and looks your way so you can crack her a smile that might spark a conversation about how you tried fixing Gwen’s flute and lead to a romantic hike up the Twin Serpent Peaks where, while gazing at the vast soft glow that is Under World, you tell her your true feelings and spend eternity together. Eliminate Dhuum’s minions! Force Dhuum into submission! And hit on Gwen’s mom!

OK, if lore doesn’t do it for you perhaps loot does. UW is home to numerous weapons with rare and great looking skins (in my opinion). Eternal Shields, (Spikey) War Hammers, Eternal Bows, Storm Bows, Ghostly Staves, Eternal Blades, Celestial Compasses, and (my personal favorite) Dhuum’s Soul Reaper! Miniature Smites and Dhuum’s can also drop. Each weapon is easily worth a nice chunk of change assuming the requirement and stats are popular. Besides weapons there are also the infamous GLOBS OF ECTOPLASM! Ectos have been traded as Guild Wars currency for years. Anything that is over 100k gets the additional X amount of ectos added into trade and nearly everyone accepts that as currency. They have remained a constant source of cash all this time because they are accepted as money but also they are used to craft Obsidian Armor and Chaos Gloves.

The lore, the loot, and le challenge are all the reasons I LOVE UW. It is one of the hardest, if not the hardest, area to complete in all of GW. I urge you to give it a look, it is very satisfying getting a team together that just rolls over the Dhuum hordes and gets a chance at an elite item. Are you interested in doing UW?
