Guild Wars Pets, an underrated bag of awesome! Finale (pt 3)

Builds & Equipment
Since my guild, [PIG], enjoys pets so much; there are a number of pet builds we like and use. But there is one that sticks out that we often use, even on heroes (with a tweak). The build and the fun we have with it was actually the inspiration behind our guild. Created by Fend from the Hamstorm Nation [PIG] guild, I give you… Hamstorm! By the way, quick background, it is called “Hamstorm” because we often used pigs as pets and stormed our foes with the pets. It is also a play on the uber GW box art build.

Ok, lets give us something visual.

Obviously there may be tweaks to the build depending on the area, but this is the most commonly used version. For more of [PIG]‘s pet builds head to our forums.

Armor:
Beast Master’s Insignias work best.

Weapons:
Spear
Armor penetration +20% (Chance: 20%)
Health +30
Damage +15% (while Health is above 50%) “Strength and Honor”

Shield
Health +30
Received physical damage -5 (Chance: 20%) “Luck of the Draw”

Offhand (bonus energy, good if you are having energy issues)
Energy +12 (Requires 9 attribute of choice)
Health +30
Armor +5 (while Health is above 50%) “Hail to the King”

Ok, I’ve stated my case about pets. I don’t expect to see a surge of pets in GW because of this, but I do hope you get to experience some of the fun tactics pets provide. They are tons of fun and I’d be happy to team up with anyone interested in experiencing some tooth and claw battles! HAMSTORM!

If you get anything from this 3 part piece take this with you; GW is a game, make it fun. :D

  1. I loved reading these articles being a pet loving ranger myself, but may I ask what you would recommend to replace Spear of Fury for a ranger that does have the skill and is no where near the point that the Luxon will give it to him. Oh I also prefer bows to spears if possible.

  2. [Spear of Lightning] is another nice spear attack. [Point Blank Shot] is a nice one I used to run with a bow. It does good damage and gets you easily in range to use [Strike As One].

Other pet skills and PVE skills work nicely as well. :D

    • I tried the build using splinter shot last night and was shocked by how well it worked. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I thought hamstom came from the fact that the original builds with guild wars had a warrior that used hamstring and firestorm. Put those together and you get hamstorm.

We called it Hamstorm to play on that box joke build (hamstring+firestorm) and from the fact that we were throwing Ham (pigs/wild boars) at our foes. Call it whatever you want, we just dubbed it “Hamstorm” for lolz and from the fact we have had a few brews while hanging out on vent that night, haha.
